Course Description
Blood Flow Restriction Training (BFRT) is an emerging type of exercise that uses compression cuffs around an arm or leg to restrict or occlude blood flow. BFRT can produce improvements in muscle strength, hypertrophy, and aerobic capacity with only light resistance exercise and physical activity. This discussion will provide the healthcare professional with an overview of BFRT and will cover topics such as defining BFRT, scientific concepts, application & safety, exercise programming, and scope of practice considerations.

At the end of this course, the participant will be able to:
- Describe BFRT, discuss the history, and the benefits of the intervention.
- Discuss the scientific concepts behind BFRT.
- Describe specific BFRT assessment and programming strategies.
