Course Description
Sarcopenia or age related muscle loss has become an emerging concern among healthcare providers due to recent research that correlates adequate muscle mass to longevity. This presentation will discuss the recent evidence behind this condition and how it can affect long term health. This presentation is for the healthcare provider that desires an evidence-based update on this topic.
Course Objectives
At the end of this course, the participant will be able to:
- Discuss the current definition of sarcopenia and differentiate the conditions from frailty and cachexia.
- Discuss the latest research evidence on sarcopenia risk factors, screening, and assessment procedures.
- Detail evidence-based sarcopenia prevention and treatment strategies as it applies to the healthcare provider.
