Current Concepts in Rehabilitation: Ehlers Danlos Syndrome and Hypermobile Spectrum Disorders
Course Description
Ehlers-Danlos Syndromes (EDS) and Hypermobility Spectrum Disorders (HSD) are genetic conditions that affect the body’s connective tissue. Currently, there are no universal evidence-based rehabilitation guidelines for treating these conditions which creates a challenge for healthcare providers. This presentation provides the current research evidence on EDS/HSD classification, diagnosis, clinical presentation, complications, suggested management strategies, and injury prevention guidelines.

Course Objectives
At the end of this course, the participant will be able to:
- Identify at least one EDS and HSD sub-type, diagnostic criteria, and sequela
- Explain the EDS and HSD clinical presentation and evidence-based examination techniques
- Summarize evidence-based intervention strategies for EDS/HSD for manual therapy, therapeutic exercise, fitness, and sport activities.
- Summarize different injury prevention strategies and wearable biometric technologies to monitor patients with EDS/HSD.
