Course Description
The GLP-1/GIP weight loss medications have become a popular treatment for individuals with type II diabetes and/or obesity. Healthcare professionals need to understand these weight loss medications including the benefits, adverse effects, and contraindications. For some individuals, these medications can have negative consequences such gastrointestinal issues, nutritional deficiencies, and loss of lean muscle mass. These consequences can affect the individual’s function, health, and post injury or surgical rehabilitation. This presentation will provide an evidence-based update on this topic as it applies to the healthcare professional.
