Pain is the primary reason why patients seek medical care. The incidence and treatment costs for musculoskeletal pain are increasing, yet patient outcomes remain suboptimal. This course aims to align the current understanding of the mechanisms behind how therapy treatments work and different types of pain commonly seen in clinical practice. There will be a focus on commonly used therapy interventions to promote evidence-based practice for treating patients in pain. .
At the end of this course, the participant will be able to:
- Identify different types of pain commonly seen in practice
- Differentiate pain types from clinical exam findings
- Describe the mechanisms behind how therapy interventions treat pain
- Link common pain types with appropriate interventions from a mechanistic perspective
