Industrial Rehabilitation of the Shoulder: How to Help Clients Achieve Their Return-to-Work Goal
Course Description
This course is designed to provide clinicians with practical, evidence-based information for managing shoulder injuries in an industrial setting. Through case-based examples and applied strategies, participants will gain the tools to bridge the gap between traditional shoulder rehab and real-world job performance. Additionally, rehab professionals will learn physical and non-physical barriers that impact return-to-work outcomes and apply biomechanical and psychosocial principles to guide effective programming and work re-integration.
Course Objectives
At the end of this course, the participant will be able to:
- Identify common shoulder injuries and apply evidence informed assessment and treatment principles to restore shoulder function.
- Analyze physical demands to inform assessment/evaluation, rehabilitation programming, and return to work decision making.
- Identify risk factors associated with various industries (healthcare, construction, police/firefighting, and material handling)
- Design progressive, job specific simulation and interventions to prepare clients for return to work.
- Identify physical and non-physical barriers with return to work and apply biomechanical and psychosocial principles to improve functional outcomes and work readiness.
