A Primer on Psychologically Informed Rehabilitation Practice
Course Description
Best evidence indicates that we should treat all of our patients within the biopsychosocial model, yet the majority of our training is focused on biological underpinnings of disease. The course will introduce components of psychologically informed practice for rehabilitation providers. Key psychological impairments will be presented along with validated examination and treatment concepts with a focus on musculoskeletal practice.
Course Objectives
At the end of this course, the participant will be able to:
- Recognize common psychological impairments relevant to rehabilitation patients
- Describe and utilize validated screening tools to assess for psychological impairments
- Apply psychologically informed treatment techniques which have been shown to be beneficial for patients with musculoskeletal injury
