Best Practices for Pediatric Feeding Challenges
Course Description
This course will cover evidence-based approaches for feeding in the pediatric population. Strategies for managing picky eaters, transitions from tube to oral feeding, as well sensory and motor based feeding challenges, will be covered. Case examples will be provided to further highlight effective strategies in a variety of therapy settings, including hospital, home and community environments. Family-centered care approaches will also be incorporated, to ensure best practices in pediatric feeding. This course is applicable to occupational and physical therapy practitioners who have experienced the physical, sensory and social-emotional challenges among children related to the occupation of feeding.
Course Objectives
At the end of this course, the participant will be able to:
- Identify key evidence that supports therapeutic feeding intervention
- Apply evidence-based literature to case examples
- Examine various strategies for improved feeding among children
- Recognize the significance of family-centered care approaches for feeding intervention
