Best Practices for Pediatric Home Health Intervention
Course Description
This course will cover evidence-based approaches for home health intervention with the pediatric population. Family centered-care principles will be applied to a variety of home health scenarios and cases. Strategies for managing family dynamics, varying physical spaces and limited materials will be included. Examples of adaptations of typical toys and play equipment will be incorporated. Case examples with diagnoses such as prematurity, autism and sensory processing disorders will be provided to further highlight effective strategies in the home. This course is applicable to occupational and physical therapy practitioners who work with children and families in the home environment.
Course Objectives
At the end of this course, the participant will be able to:
- Identify key evidence that supports therapeutic home intervention
- Apply best practices to case examples with common diagnoses
- Examine various strategies for optimal treatment in the home environment
- Recognize the significance of family-centered care approaches for home health intervention
