Common Wrist and Hand Fractures: A Practical Approach
Course Description
This two hour webinar will include the pathophysiology, evaluation and treatment of common wrist and hand fractures such as wrist/forearm fractures, phalanx fractures, metacarpal fractures, carpal fractures; as well as common dislocation/tendon injuries associated with these fractures. This course would be a perfect beginning to intermediate level class for the OT, COTA, PT, PTA or AT that treats patients recovering from various hand or wrist fractures. The content of this course also provides an excellent review for the CHT exam.

Course Objectives
At the end of this course, the participant will be able to:
- Identify the phases of fracture healing,
- Define the classification of fracture types,
- Understand the etiology/evaluation/treatment behind common intra and extra- articular wrist and hand fractures including: distal radius fracture, other forearm fractures, carpal fractures, metacarpal and phalangeal fractures/dislocations.
- Understand etiology/evaluation/treatment of common dislocation and tendon injuries associated with the above fractures.
- Leave with a “bag of tricks” for therapy and orthotic intervention of the above fractures.
- Understand common complications associated with the above
