Differential Diagnosis of Upper Extremity Pain
Course Description
Pain experienced in the upper extremity can be as a result of a variable number of medical conditions. These include but are not limited to mechanical pain of the cervical spine, thoracic spine, shoulder, myofascial trigger point referral, peripheral nerve entrapment or potentially viscera. The aim of this course is to improve skills to identify and treat the root cause of the dysfunction.
Course Objectives
At the end of this course, the participant will be able to:
- Recognize the potential causes of upper extremity pain
- Identify the anatomy of structures frequently involved in upper extremity pain
- Define cervical radiculopathy and recognize common symptoms
- Summarize evidence-based treatment approaches in the treatment of upper extremity pain related to cervical radiculopathy.
