Dizziness and Balance Disorders in the Elderly: Is it Just Aging?
Course Description
Many times people over the age of 65 are told that their dizziness and balance issues are simply the effect of getting older. This course will explore the various causes of dizziness and balance problems in older persons and determine what is related to age and what is not, and determine the best course of action to improve function and reduce fall risk.
Course Objectives
At the end of this course, the participant will be able to:
- Recognize the causes of dizziness and balance disorders in people over 65 years of age
- Identify age related changes that may affect balance systems
- Test the primary balance systems to determine deficits
- Perform treatments for age related balance deficits
