Evidence Based Evaluation and Treatment of the Lumbar Spine
Course Description
This is a course that will allow the participant to better understand evaluation and treatment of the lumbar spine and pelvis with emphasis on differentiation between lumbar and pelvic pain and the use of a classification system to develop treatment plans. The focus will be on adding new knowledge and skills to the novice or intermediate practitioner. Participants will come away from this course with a confident ability to evaluate and treat patients who suffer from low back pain using evidence and inductive reasoning vs. just biomedical knowledge and routines.
Course Objectives
At the end of this course, the participant will be able to:
• SUMMARIZE research findings about muscle activation patterns in the presence of lumbar pain and sacroiliac joint pain.
• DESCRIBE treatment based classification and how to use it for treatment of LBP.
• DESCRIBE current research trends in management of back and pelvic pain
• DESCRIBE beginning, intermediate and advanced exercises for strengthening of abdominal, lumbar, and pelvic muscles

Satisfactory completion of this course will require the participant to complete a 10 question post-test with a minimum passing score of 70%.
