Getting Patients Back in Action After Work-Related Back Injury
Course Description
Clinicians encounter clients who may be required to return to work despite the need for additional rehabilitation. How does one determine a client’s capacity to return to work safely? In this course, you will learn how to assess and document outcomes for work-related low back pain in order to determine the appropriate time to recommend return to work. Know how to select disability questionnaires, physical capacity testing, movement screening and ergonomic guidelines to make informed decisions as to when a client is ready to work, and to be referred to a post-rehab program.
Course Objectives
At the end of this course, the participant will be able to:
- Document outcomes for work-related low back pain, including return to work screening, disability questionnaires, (Oswestry, Rowland Morris, Quebec Inventory) physical capacity/job testing tasks, movement quality screening and ergonomic considerations
- Describe application of clinical practice guidelines for low back pain.
- Discuss considerations for return to work program design for workers with low back pain and the value of post-rehab training

Satisfactory completion of this course will require the participant to complete a 10 question post-test with a minimum passing score of 70%.
