Hydration Practices for Optimal Sport Performance
Course Description
In this course we will focus on the physiological adaptations to maintain one’s hydration status as well as the functions of water in the body. These principles will be applied to optimal hydration practices for athletes in all areas of sport. Focus will also be placed on the evidence-based practice for assessing hydration status and all recommendations for fluid intakes.
Course Objectives
At the end of this course, the participant will be able to:
- Identify the physiological aspects of hydration and its adaptations in the human body which impact health and performance.
- Define optimal hydration practices for athlete’s in all types of sport.
- Utilize evidence-based methods for assessing hydration status.
- Determine the appropriate amounts of fluid for pre-, during, and post-activity to promote optimal hydration.
