Implementing Telehealth into Rehabilitation Practice
Telehealth – the delivery of clinical services through digital technology – is rapidly being adopted around the world in light of concerns surrounding COVID-19. Previous research has identified that telehealth is effective and comparable to face-to-face practice for a variety of conditions. However, this effectiveness requires that clinicians are able to proficiently deploy telehealth services. For many clinicians, the COVID-19 pandemic is providing the first opportunity to use telehealth as a service delivery mechanism. In the absence of clear guidance for the implementation of telehealth into clinical practice, the purpose of this webinar is to discuss the practical implementation of telehealth into rehabilitation practice. We will discuss regulatory factors to consider prior to initiating telehealth services, emphasize key concerns for practice, and offer suggestions for performing a digital examination.
At the end of this course, the participant will be able to:
- Discuss settings in which telehealth is being used
- Investigate state regulations related to telehealth
- Outline key differences between telehealth and in person clinical practice
- Examine competencies needed to effectively practice in a telehealth environment
