Introduction to Rehabilitation of Pelvic Floor Dysfunction & Urinary Incontinence
Course Description
This 2 hour webinar will introduce PTs to the anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology of the pelvic floor. Screening tools for identifying patients who may benefit from skilled intervention for pelvic floor muscle (PFM) dysfunction and simple treatment ideas will be discussed. Resources for expanding knowledge, obtaining certification and provided specialized pelvic floor treatment will be provided. This lecture is ideal for those considering specializing in pelvic PT. Focus is on providing immediately usable information in these patient populations.
Course Objectives
At the end of this course, the participant will be able to:
- Identify patients who may require simple treatment of PFM through screening questionnaire and external palpation
- Provide simple instructions for PFM exercises
- List educational opportunities for specialization in pelvic PT for urinary incontinence (UI)
