Lower Extremity Plyometrics in Rehabilitation in Both Operative and Non-Operative Conditions
Course Description
This course will cover plyometric training as an intervention in order to rehabilitate the athlete. Plyometrics are quick, short exercises that require muscles to exert a maximal force in order to increase power. This course will educate the participant regarding the scientific concepts of plyometrics and will address the criteria to initiate plyometrics in both operative and non-operative patients. Plyometric specific objective measures will be discussed as well as the progressions of plyometrics through the physiological and rehabilitative continuum.
Course Objectives
At the end of this course, the participant will be able to:
- Identify the 3 physiologic phases of a plyometric
- Apply the foundation of how to develop a plyometric program for both operative and non- operative patients
- Administer the Tuck jump assessment, LESS test, and jump hop tests and appropriately interpret the results
- Recall the specific subjective and objective measures needed to be taken in order to imitate plyometrics in both operative and non-operative patients
- Instruct a patient in how to perform appropriate interventions in each plyometric phase in the rehabilitative continuum
