Manage Adverse Neural Tension Syndromes with Neurodynamic Mobilization: Examination and Interventions to Promote Function and Relieve Pain and Disability for the Upper Extremity
Course Description
People present neurogenic complaints of tingling, numbness, pain, weakness, and electrical sensations which impair mobility and function. How does a clinician address the myriad of symptoms that accompany adverse neural tension dysfunction? Explore the field of neurodynamics, in which we discover how the nerves slide, glide, and move as a component of normal human movement.
Rather than address only the musculoskeletal system, learn how to restore mobility and function from the perspective of neurophysiology and function. Practice neurodynamic assessment for the upper extremity to identify areas impacted by neural compression. Apply hands-on interventions to address mobility impairments of the peripheral nervous system. Incorporate neural soft tissue mobilization using hands and tools to relieve adverse neural tension. Build your success and referrals with these hands-on techniques to help clients get moving again.
Course Objectives
At the end of this course, the participant will be able to:
- Discuss neurodynamic approach to adverse peripheral neural tension impairments involving the upper extremity (UE).
- Demonstrate provocative tests to identify mobility impairments related to adverse neural tension for the UE.
- Demonstrate neurodynamic mobilization techniques to manage mobility impairments for median, musculocutaneous, ulnar and radial nerves using manual or instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization.
- Document outcomes related to indications and effectiveness of the neurodynamic approach to adverse neural tension disorders.
- Incorporate a neurodynamic approach into a plan of care to address mobility impairments related to adverse neural tension for the UE.
