Management of the Cancer Patient, part II: Rehab
Course Description
Cancer diagnosis is on the rise but patients are living longer. It is imperative that we as clinicians can treat these patients. However, with this group come many challenges. This course takes a deeper look at various types of cancer and explores the depths of the effect on the body. It will discuss how to treat patients with fatigue and chemo neuropathy that can be debilitating side effects. It will also look at several rehabilitation considerations to put in your toolbox when treating various cancer patients.
Course Objectives
At the end of this course, the participant will be able to:
- Identify various types of cancer – signs, symptoms, staging and treatment options.
- Identify various types of blood cancers – signs, symptoms, staging and treatment options.
- Differentiate between special cancer patient populations.
- Explain goals of therapy and fatigue in the cancer patient.
