Multiple Sclerosis: Treatment Strategies for the Allied Health Professional
Course Description
Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is one of the most common causes of non-traumatic disability among young and middle aged adults. This course will discuss the different forms of MS, along with medical and therapeutic treatment strategies to improve function and quality of life in affected persons. Discussion will include options for exercise and adaptive equipment, as well as necessary referrals to other specialists.
Course Objectives
At the end of this course, the participant will be able to:
- Understand the four forms of Multiple Sclerosis
- Discuss medical testing and interventions for evaluating and slowing disease progression
- Identify necessary information to obtain during a therapy evaluation to develop a treatment plan
- Discuss treatment strategies for improved function and / or management of disease progression
