Course Description
Myofascial compression intervention has become a popular treatment among rehabilitation professionals. Part 1 of this 3-part series will focus on Instrument Assisted Soft-Tissue Mobilization and Mechanical Percussion Devices. The latest research evidence, clinical standards, and treatment strategies will be discussed for these popular interventions.
Course Objectives
At the end of this course, the participant will be able to:
- Explain at least two current scientific theories behind Instrument Assisted Soft-Tissue Massage and mechanical percussion devices
- Summarize at least three best practice patterns for IASTM and mechanical percussion devices.
- Explain the differences between common indications, precautions, and contraindications for IASTM and mechanical percussion devices.
- Summarize the emerging research regarding mechanical percussion devices and the latest research evidence for IASTM as a treatment intervention to improve performance and functional movement allowing the client to better engage in ADLs.
