Course Description
Are you in need of tips and tricks to help children with autism? Do you need some help figuring out how to help a child manage sensory stimulation, reduced strength, and/or delayed motor skills? This course is designed to develop the pediatric therapist’s knowledge of autism. Through functional, meaningful training, the course will teach you the tips and tricks that help children manage the challenges they face with this disability, as well as the research that supports your work. This course is of value to pediatric therapists that want to have a greater understanding of how to work with children with autism.
Course Objectives
At the end of this course, the participant will be able to:
- Define Autism
- Understand the prevalence of autism and common co-morbid diagnosis
- Understand current research supporting pediatric therapists work with autism
- Manage the total child (considering co-morbid conditions commonly associated with autism)
- Apply a variety of therapeutic techniques to help children with autism
