Performance Testing in PT: Beyond the Professional and Collegiate Athlete
Course Description
If the profession of physical therapy is to be in the best position to prescribe, grade, and advance performance training – how can that be accomplished without a comprehensive, objective baseline? The profession that created the concept of a movement system, that has been considered to be a movement scientist, or even the pharmacists of exercise “dosage”, is physical therapy. Prescription is built most accurately on baseline metrics and normative data for accurate goal settings considering symmetry, age, gender, and goals. In this course, we will introduce, demonstrate, advocate and elevate performance testing in physical therapy within applications of the high school athlete, recreational adult, and even in the GeriAthlete. This course will include videotape analysis, a consideration of building the performance testing lab, and the latest in evidence-based testing. |
