Practical Therapeutic Taping of the Upper Extremity
Course Description
Therapeutic taping is a common clinical intervention utilized as an adjunct in many rehabilitation clinics. Taping application is often used to assist patients to reach their functional goals by providing: pain reduction, joint support, assist with proprioceptive awareness, and muscle inhibition and/or facilitation. Systematic reviews have individually addressed elastic and rigid taping for benefits of the musculoskeletal system, but have not established specifics for the efficacy of varying types of tape and/or their advantages for taping the upper extremity. This course will address evidence based and theoretical constructs for upper extremity taping techniques of both, rigid and elastic tape. Therapists will gain an immediate foundation of the evidence and theory behind the therapeutic taping. Video demonstrations and clinical pearls will be provided for immediate clinical application.
