Rehabilitation Following Total Knee Arthroplasty (TKA)
Course Description
There is an increasing volume of total knee arthroplasty (TKA) procedures being performed and are projected to be performed in the future. Clinicians would benefit from greater insights into the part they contribute to more successful outcomes. Strong clinical outcomes are needed in treating TKA but can be difficult to achieve. There are many factors that can contribute to undesirable outcomes. This course was designed to improve awareness, offer recommendations steeped in evidence and experience to aid clinicians in reaching better and more consistent outcomes.
Course Objectives
At the end of this course, the participant will be able to:
- Recognize and Identify factors related to TKA failures
- Summarize treatment interventions to decrease risk of PPP, CPSP, falls, gait dysfunctions and arthrofibrosis
- Summarize the benefits of use of a Multimodal treatment approach for TKA
- Explain different phases of post op rehabilitation throughout the spectrum of care for TKA patients
