Running Rehabilitation Principles: In Depth Biomechanical Analysis and Treatment
This is an in-depth course to guide the clinician through a detailed breakdown of biomechanical analysis and specific rehabilitation principles and treatment for the runner. This course will intentionally address rehabilitation focused on mobility, stability, strength, power, and endurance requirements for return-to-running based on a thorough look at biomechanical principles and video analysis.
At the end of this course, the participant will be able to:
- Describe relevant anatomy for the runner, and the standard biomechanics, kinematics, and kinetics of walking vs. running.
- Identify most running related deficits and injuries through video analysis.
- Identify intrinsic and extrinsic factors that influence the runner’s mobility, stability, strength, power, and endurance levels.
- Describe major running “norms” and teach gait changes to the running athlete through the STRIDE System of runner retraining.
- Describe and demonstrate corrective exercises to address particular biomechanical dysfunctions and/or other physical deficits for the runner
- Design and implement a return to running program for the injured and uninjured runner.
