This 2 hour continuing education course is designed for PTs/PTAs, OTs/OTAs, athletic trainers, certified strength and conditioning specialists & personal trainers. This course is a must for all allied health professionals that are looking to further their knowledge in the area of sports nutrition to assist their athletes in recovery and in achieving their peak performance. A variety of nutrition topics will be covered including: When to consult with a nutrition expert, goals of the nutrition process, a review of the key nutrients for athletic performance, and how to help your athlete avoid fatigue.
This course also includes several case studies that will help the learner apply many of the concepts covered in this course.
At the end of this course, the participant will be able to:
- Identify the nutrition care process and its key components.
- Identify the essential nutrients which fuel our body and how they are impacted via sport participation.
- Understand Energy and how to help individuals overcome fatigue.
- Determine the appropriate amounts of carbohydrate,protein or fats to meet an athletes general daily requirements.
