The Home Exercise Program (HEP): Design Strategies to Optimize Compliance and Outcomes
Course Description
The Home Exercise Program (HEP) is becoming increasingly important to the success of a rehab patients in all settings. Visit caps, cost deterrents, access, and even time management barriers continue to surge in all rehab settings. “Homework” in the form of the HEP has grown from just an ancillary tool to a critical pillar of successful outcome.
While the knowledge of the therapist is not in question with the exercise selection in these programs, most practitioners do not have adequate training in educational design and instruction to develop the best home program possible. Research on optimum instruction is actually contrary to many programs provided. This multimedia course serves to provide the learner with a greater understanding of best practices to enhance the compliance and design for their HEP.
Course Objectives
At the end of this course, the participant will be able to:
- Explain the historical purpose of the HEP.
- Identify at least three barriers to compliance.
- Formulate a HEP utilizing best practices
